ShamRockin’ for a Cure is a huge event. From soliciting silent auction items, to delivering posters to restaurants, to setting up tables at the event, to cleaning up post event…there is a big need for volunteers to pull off an event for 1,500 people! Whether you’re interested in volunteering day-of or joining the committee, we have a spot for you! For more information email Linda Blakely at

Volunteers attending the actual event MUST BE 21 OR OLDER due to alcohol at the venue.

Younger volunteers may be used to help with set up, unpacking boxes, decorating tables, etc.

Here are some inspirational words from prior and current volunteers:

I volunteer for ShamRockin’ because it tethers me to something bigger than myself.  ShamRockin’ the event ties me to my local community; while the larger Cystic Fibrosis Foundation opens my life experience to a worldwide group of people passionate in their quest for a cure. In my role, I get to talk with families, volunteers, sponsors and supporters regularly. Every day that I have the opportunity to work on ShamRockin’ feeds my soul with inspiration and more than a little magic.
– Lara Dolan, 2017 ShamRockin’ Sponsor Committee Chair

With no familial tie to the disease, I found a home here with Kindred Spirits that fight like the hardest driving angel warriors from heaven.  We never give up – we fight to the end- we give them hope
– Tom Murphy, Multi-Year ShamRockin’ Volunteer, 2017 Event Chair

I volunteer for 3 reasons. 1) I truly love my Sham Fam 2) It gives me a sense of purpose 3) We will kick CF’s butt. “It’s Gonna Happen!”
– Jimmy Pomerance, Multi-Year Volunteer, 2016 Emcee

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has unrestricted financial reserves of about 13 times its 2018 budgeted expenses following a one-time royalty sale in 2014. These funds, along with the public’s continuing support, are needed to help accelerate our efforts to pursue a cure for this fatal disease, fund development of new therapies, and help all people with CF live full, productive lives. Important Note on Attendance at Foundation Events: To reduce the risk of getting and spreading germs at CF Foundation-sponsored events, we ask that everyone follow basic best practices by regularly cleaning your hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow and maintaining a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection. Medical evidence shows that germs may spread among people with CF through direct and indirect contact as well as through droplets that travel short distances when a person coughs or sneezes. These germs can lead to worsening symptoms and speed decline in lung function. To further help reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event.
